Up until the "end," this was a solid, five-star book for me, by far my favorite in the series. When I first heard Three Dark Crowns was extending into a trilogy, (view spoiler) I thought, oh boy, here comes a cash grab. But Kendare Blake was absolutely able to craft a unique and exciting tale with intrigue, mystery, and beaches littered with entrails. This did not feel like a forced extension AT ALL.
