Loved this book. I found out about half way through that this is the first book in a trilogy Thank goodness....because I was starting to wonder how they were going to wrap up so many story lines. I've been reading a lot of young adult about vampires, werewolves and witches. It was refreshing to read "A Discovery of Witches." The beginning is a little slow, with overly wordy descriptions of wine. But this book really grasped my attention quickly. From the beginning you know that Diana is unconsciously using her magic. She cannot help it, it's part of who she is. Little bits leak out here and there.

Who doesn't enjoy imagining the fantastical awesomeness that could possibly exist in the everyday? This book was great in imagining the realm of magical creatures in our every day. I could do without the romance part of things, but I can also see how it is part of the overall story line and helps to propel the plot along. Fun read overall.
