I loved the first book.
I enjoyed the way the second book was heading.

And sadly I have to say that although I love the concept of the story. Love the characters presented. I was very disappointed with the way the third book went. There's moments I adore. (Paul and the Duchess aww) but they were so few. I was expecting more out of it especially with such a beautiful cover.

Ah but we can't judge books based on covers can't we?

But honestly I couldn't get behind this. The science started falling ap I loved the first book.

But honestly I couldn't get behind this. The science started falling apart in the book and the stuff that happened were like -why? What? With little explanation afterwards to how it happened or why.

Like go with the flow thing.

There's more dimension hoping but the worlds seemed flat this time around. Aside from the Moscowverse that seem quite interesting. Only to be short lived.

The Theo factor I felt so angry about -not because I can't stand love triangles, aside from some well written ones- but because I felt so bad for him. He deserved better in the end and in the whole story. Although I don't ship Marguerite with Theo. I think the author could have gone deeper into his character instead of just making him the protagonist third wheeler who is so in love with her and unable to let her go. ( sigh cliche love triangles annoy me)

Also I didn't like how they left some stuff hanging about the other dimensions. Like the mafiaverse. I would have loved closure to that story other than yeah it sucks move on.

Not to mention the miss opportunity of having more of Paul's parents in other dimensions and his own ( cough).

The story had its cute moments and there's moments I liked reading because they were suspenseful but around 60 percent of the story either felt flat, the characters didn't shine much, and it was just more tedious than fun.

I think the book was good. Not great and most of the 3 star review comes from my disappointment of leaving so many things open and not meeting my expectations of where it could've gone. Still it's not a bad story and it's not one I'm to forget either.

It has its moments. Personally I would've loved the main character to be Paul instead of Marguerite. But oh well. To each their own. ...more

All in all, this was a pretty good and definitely enjoyable wrap up to the Firebird trilogy. It had some pretty good twists and turns and lots of great action.
