Shelves: prologue

Stories always begin the same way. There was and there was not. There is a possibility in those words, the chance for hope or despair.

Right away this gave me classic fairytale vibes, and I don't mean the pretty Disney rewrites. I'm talking about Cinderella's stepsisters sawing off their toes to cram their feet into the glass slippers. This was dark and ugly and I liked that.

4 stars. Probably should be a 3.5, because I do t remember much about the story, but almost 2 years on (5/1/22), I still remember really liking the book.
