Shelves: own-gift, urban-fantasy, young-adult, book-club

I wanted to love this, but so much of it didn’t work for me. The structure was organized in such a way to make all of Rue’s motivation told in backstory. I wish we could have just to this linearly so we could really connect to her loss. I also felt that a lot of the plot was people having conversations. I did like the world she was creating and the metaphor for colonialization and white privilege. Just wish it had kept my attention better.
