This was such a lovely read. Like if a book could be a cute little pink cupcake with sprinkles on top, it would be this book. Solid four stars. Loved all the characters, although it would have been a five star book if the world-building had been a bit more robust. There was also a major resolution that seemed too easy and had no explanation of how it actually happened (sorry, can’t say more without spoilers). Despite the weaknesses, it was still such a lovely story that I highly recommend it.

While there are some serious stakes in this story, it still had the feel of a cozy fantasy. I had a great time with this one!

This was very meh for me. It wasn't bad or anything. But I found it very underwhelming. I was expecting something more epic. And it just wasn't. I did quite enjoy the unique amalgamation of Korean, Chinese and Japanese folklore and mythology. And I didn't see the twists at the end coming. And the characters were fine. The plot was fine. That's how I felt overall. It's fine. Not great. But not bad either. ...more
