This is my 2nd favorite Ali Hazelwood after her first book. You have a great couple with some intense backstories. You have toxic masculinity villains who get their comeuppances. There are some great secondary characters too.

The one thing is it is marketed as young adult, but I didn't get that. Yes they are young, but they aren't teenagers and there is sex (just not graphic). An excellent read. ...more

I dunno. 3.5? In some ways it’s just like all of Ali Hazelwood’s other books, but I think that it may have been my least favorite so far. Maybe it was because it’s YA? Not sure. I just know that I got really bored about halfway through. I also had a really hard time believing the level of celebrity status that the chess players held. Like, I legit could not even name you one chess player let alone recognize what they looked like. And people were asking the main character for her autograph? Outsi ...more
