I was excited to read this, and then as I read it I thought..."this is it???" I get that this is supposed to be Haymitch's story, but the 16-year old Haymitch in this book seems nothing like the smart, somehow charming and also unlikable adult in THG. Of course in this book (view spoiler) ...more

Obviously I loved this. It is unbelievable to me that Suzanne Collins was able to tell the story of Haymitch Abernathy's youth and games without so much as a hiccup in the narrative, and I would love to know how she planned all this or envisioned it for herself as she wrote the series. I wish I hadn't read it yet, just so I could read it again. ...more
