Cassandra Clare is an author whos books I d0n't exactly enjoy but who I cannot seem to stop reading. Everything aobut her stories, characters, and writing style should appeal to me and yet something about it just doesn't work. Shelves: young-adult, vamps, steampunk, urban-fantasy

Victorian London, vampires, and clockwork creatures...How could I not read this book?! While this easily readable young adult did deliver on all of the above, the whole demon-slayer lore still came off a bit fuzzy until closer towards the end. The story clearly breaks off in the middle of major plotlines which means I will be seeking out the following volume in the future.

I feel this would make a lovely little graphic novel like how Soulless was turned into Soulless: The Manga, Vol. 1. ...more
