Percy Jackson has never really fit in. He has been kicked out of 6 schools in 6 years. He has dyslexia and ADHD. Pretty sad for a 12 year old. But his whole world is about to change when he is attacked by his math teacher on a school field trip. His world begins to get stranger and stranger and he finds out the Greek gods are real and his father is a god. He is then sent on a quest with far reaching consequences. I really enjoyed this story. it was fun and the characters fascinating.

This is tough review to write.

I liked the book and I found the story compelling. This book is aimed at the preteen teen group and as an adult I found the subject matter tough. My son loves Harry Potter but didn’t love this series as much
so many Greek god names that are hard to pronounce. the story had so many details and so many characters I couldn’t keep them straight!

I liked the Greek mythology aspect and learned more about gods then I ever knew. It also gave my son some facts about Greek myth

I read this book in anticipation of the movie. I had kept meaning to read this book and never got around to it which was a mistake b/c it was really good. This book had lots of adventures and great characters ; well worth the read.

If only I had started reading these series when I was younger! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down and it's these types fantasy stories that got me hooked onto reading when I was a child. I've always found Greek Mythology to be a fascinating subject and this book opened my eyes to doing a little bit more academic reading on it too. The characters were so well developed that I actually pictured them differently in my mind even if I had already seen the movie. The many action scenes thr ...more

This has some similarities to the HP series but there's enough differentiation to make this a distinctively different world to escape into.

It's a well-detailed story of adolescent self-discovery overlaid with the Greek Gods and mythology as the base for this "new" world. It's enjoyably fast-paced and a great audiobook to listen to during work commutes.

Pretty fun...the best part is seeing how the author incorporates all of the mythical gods and characters. Teenagers, though, seem to LOVE this one, so recommend it to them if you have some reluctant readers.

A little too Potter-esque, but without the creativity.
