Everyone was raving about this book and the sequels a couple years ago and for some reason I never jumped on the bandwagon. I had been meaning to read this and for some reason I just kept ... NOT. And then I'd get fired which would result in no more book money.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone would have been 4 stars for me if not for the star-crossed romance (yes, the whole point, but...not my thing) and the feeling it was super long (the flashback could have been its own book). I love, love, love the Taylor describes her scenes. Not only do you get a clear picture of the characters/scene/action... you feel them. This story is so unique. Being a re-read, I knew the big twist, but I still found myself whipping through page after page to find out what happens next. Oh and I again want blue hair. :)

I listened to this in audiobook form and it was very enjoyable. Looking forward to the next novel in the series.

Unrealistic childish romance. Semi-unique world related to old myths. Fluid writing style.

Blackbringer was better.
