I love Holly's work.
Cassel and his family fascinate me. He is coming of age in such a dangerous culture, trying to fall in love without being able to know what is true. Holly makes it all so vivid--what it would be like to live in that logical, alternate, strange/familiar America where magic is common and illegal.

What if you had the power to control people's memories, emotions, luck, or even death all through the touch of your hand? But how would you feel if those powers belonged to the mafia, and because of those powers they controlled pretty much everything going on around you? This book was fun and mysterious and inventive. It was a little predictable, but the characters were interesting and imaginative. It made me rethink shaking hands with people skin to skin. Maybe I need to get me some gloves like
