I definitely liked the first book better. I suppose it's because I've always thought that If I Stay should just be a stand alone title.
Adam was so unbearable for me the first half of the book. I feel like I'm so insensitive to Adam's hurting. I do understand his pain; it must be terrible for him! But I kept reading more in hopes that he ends up with a better attitude (and he did, thank goodness). The second half was a better. Get your tissues out because this will make you weep, for both loss and gain. It was a great followup to the first book, filling in the aftermath of tragedy and how different people cope with pain and loss in their own ways.
Thought it was really good.
