I really, really enjoyed Beth Revis' first book in this trilogy, Across the Universe. So, I felt that I would devour the second in the series. Now, at the start, I wasn't devouring so much as nibbling. But the last third to a quarter of the book just flew by!

Parts of the book were predictable and others were a surprise. Part sci-fi, part mystery, part spy thriller, and part dystopia. All in all, very enjoyable. ...more

Finished. I really do enjoy this series. I love the suspense, the romance and the world-building. But what I really love is the very human way Beth portrays people in the future as not very different from us. I found it fascinating how she tracks Elder's progress from scared kid to leader, all while falling desperately in love with Amy. I supposed, as a character, I loved Elder more than Amy. I guess I found her sometimes, too dark, too negative, but then again--considering her circumstances, I ...more

It was amazing! Not only did it have more suspense and moments where one is like huh? NO WAY! I had that thought a lot! Especially when I found out about the ship. I thought it was really cool! I love how she writes Elder point of view,because it makes me see how he's struggling on being the leader. Urgh! But I can't believe I have to wait a year for the next! It's so unfair! ...more

All I have to say is that I am SO happy I thought ahead to put the 3rd book on hold at the library a few weeks ago because I am picking it up tomorrow and will be immediately shoving my nose into it.
