ME HA ENCANTADO. Simple y llanamente. Puede que no sea el mejor libro de la historia pero me lo he pasado genial leyéndolo y me ha mantenido enganchada en todo momento, y eso, hoy en día, con tanto YA, es muy díficil.

Y es que Jennifer L. Armentrout consigue crear un mundo único en el que, aunque haga uso de los típicos tópicos de la literatura juvenil consigue darles la vuelta y hacer que parezcan interesantes y novedosos. Además, por fin tenemos un libro sin vampiros, hombres lobo o ángeles (no ME HA ENCANTADO. Simple y llanamente. Y es que Jennifer L. Armentrout consigue crear un mundo único en el que, aunque haga uso de los típicos tópicos de la literatura juvenil consigue darles la vuelta y hacer que parezcan interesantes y novedosos. Además, por fin tenemos un libro sin vampiros, hombres lobo o ángeles (no tengo nada en contra de ellos, eh? soy la primera que lee de todo), y en su lugar tenemos...extraterrestres! por fin! una novela juvenil sci fi, ¿ Qué mas se puede pedir?

Pues una prota que, por ejemplo, tenga claro la diferencia entre atracción y amor. Aquí no nos encontramos con una historia de amor a primera vista, y aunque la ust es de lo mejor del libro, en ningún momento se da el típico momento de 'chico ve a chica (o viceversa), ambos sienten una inexplicable pero fuerte e innegbable atracción y bam! ya están enamorados'. Sí, Daemon y Katy se sienten atraídos pero enamorados? nonono (al menos de momento ;).

En fin, que Katy es maravillosa (puede que una de las razones por las que me guste tanto es que es una auténtica bookworm, como yo, con su propio blog y con secciones como 'In my mail box' XD); Daemon es un cretino la mayoría de veces, si, pero como cualquier prota que se precie tiene sus momentos adorables y está muyyy hot; Dee es un encanto; y el resto de personajes secundarios son interesantes y tienen su papel definido.

Que este libro no te va a cambiar la vida está claro, pero tiene un aire a 'Roswell' y algo de 'Smallville', todo mezclado con una buenas dosis de drama adolescente americano. Así que si quieres pasar un buen rato y perderte en una historia de ciencia ficción con un mundo interesante, con una ust increíble y personajes que seguro que no te dejan indiferentes, éste es tu libro.

I am going to take from other readers and say this is what Twilight should have been. It's impossible not to detect the similarities. Katy (Bella) and her mom (a single parent) move to a new town to start over after her father has died. Next door is the insanely hot and arrogant Daemon (Edward) and his bubbly sister, Dee,(Alice). This book has been hyped like crazy by many of my fellow readers and after having read this, all I can say is, holy alien hotness, Batman! Daemon and this book definitely live up to the hype! Daemon is pure yum! And now that I'm done fangirling, onto the actual review. In many ways, this reminded me of the Lorien Legacies series by Pittacus Lore, but if John had spent less time battling Mogadorians and more time kissing Sara. Not to say that the Luxen lack for enemies. They don't. Not to say that the Luxen lack for enemies. They don't. Mostly an evil opposing race known as the Arum and also the Department Of Defense to a degree. And there's some fight scenes and some action sequences, but the conflict is by and large, of the interpersonal and internal variety. (view spoiler) As I have stated in other reviews, I love a good opposites attract romance and Katy and Daemon are opposites in pretty much every way. And boy, do they attract! Even though this book is mostly about the beginnings of their romance, they still have some spicy scenes and swoonworthy moments. Daemon is the type of character that by all rights, I ought to detest, but I've always had a thing for cocky and sarcastic male leads and so of course, I loved Daemon! And Armentrout gives him just enough heart and just enough of a look inside him that I loved him all the more! Katy was great as well, she didn't take any of Daemon's crap and could easily go toe to toe with him and was just an all around good match for him, she was sassy and spunky and feisty and I loved that she loved reading and had a book blog! I giggle every time I think of the spaghetti scene, you'll know what I mean once you've read this book. I also liked Dee a lot, she was fun and added a lot to the story. And I liked all of the other supporting characters. I liked the worldbuilding, such as it is. I thought the whole Luxen thing was very cool and interesting. All in all, this was a fantastic start to this series and I'm so glad that I read it. Quick side note, Daemon calling Katy "Kitten" did throw me a bit. Why? Because I'm a big fan of the Night Huntress novels by Jeaniene Frost, therefore I'm very used to Bones calling Cat "Kitten." So it was a little strange to have another male lead calling the heroine "Kitten." ...more

I can't stop smiling!!! I loved this so much. Oh the tension! I'm glad I wasn't reading this in public because there were entirely too many giggles, giant grins, and squeals of delight on my part. Bring on book two!!! ...more

This book reminded me of Twilight from beginning to end. It's totally a predictable, high school love story too. Human girl falls for guy that seems something other than human. There is animosity between them that builds and builds with romantic tension. Boy has family who is like him and he will do anything to protect. Daemon is a sexy jerk that you just hate to love. I loved Kat because she loves to read and she is a book blogger. I loved it when she said that no, she doesn't read too much, there's no such thing as reading too much. I really liked the pacing of this story. It is reminiscent of Twilight. But what it really reminded me of was the 1984 Jeff Bridges movie Starman. I am really interested in continuing this series. Kat and Daemon are hot together and I want more. ...more

Maybe if I had read the book when it came out 8 years ago I would’ve felt differently about it but this was not a good one for me. It felt like a generic version of a dozen or so other YA books.
