Awesome much????!!!

Acabo de terminar el libro y me arrepiento muchísimo de que me haya durado tan poco. Lo he amado y ha sido una grandísima continuación de Angelfall. Y el final! OMG esas últimas 30 páginas han sido muy épicas, y el cliffhanger!!! no ha sido horrible pero aún así necesito el siguiente libro como aire para respirar. Ojalá el tercer libro salga en junio tal y como pone en GR.

En fin, amor máximo por esta saga, por Penryn, Raffe, Paige.... <3333

Angelfall is the well thought-out and more complete second book in Susan Ee’s Penryn & the End of Days series. With a much fuller storyline that has been well fleshed-out, and with excellent character progression and development, Angelfall was a delightful and quick read that left me breathlessly anticipating each following chapter.

With a much fuller storyline that has been well fleshed-out, and with excellent character progression and development, Angelfall was a delightful and quick read that left me breathlessly anticipating each following chapter.

Penryn’s lost everything. Her world is gone, destroyed by the apocalyptic conflict between the angels and humans. Her younger sister, once captured and experimented on by the angels, is now free, but something about her is different… sinister… and Penryn doesn’t know what she can do to help. Her mother is certifiably insane. And lastly, the angel who helped her, Raffe, is nowhere to be found, having lost his wings and sword after a terrible fight with his fellow angels. Penryn doesn’t know if he’s dead or alive after they changed his wings with a demons, but she’s certain that no one knows the truth—that Raffe saved her life, and that not all angels are as terrible as they think.

The breathtaking pace of the last book, Angelfall, slows a little bit in this second book of Ms. Ee’s, allowing the reader to glean a great deal more about the world that the main character Penryn is living in. I did appreciate the slower pace, somewhat—it allowed me to learn more about Penryn herself as a character, because for some reason in the first book I didn’t really feel like she was properly fleshed out. In World After I found myself genuinely sympathizing with her, especially when she thought about Raffe and how much she missed him despite their short time together. However, I felt like the action was a lot fewer and further between, and sometimes Penryn’s slow, introspective moments were too slow—they dragged down the plot a bit. Of course, with each chapter being a handful of pages and the book being relatively short, this was a quick, easy read.

That being said, quality over quantity—the plot definitely thickened! We learn much more about the angel’s plot, why they were on earth… and the question was raised about whether or not they attacked earth of their own accord, rather than exacting heaven’s will. Also, the experiment that the angels conducted on Penryn’s sister is chilling once Penryn finally finds out what they did to her.

My favorite part of the book, besides Raffe all day every day, was the relationship that Penryn forged with Raffe’s sword. I swear to goodness. Raffe’s angel sword was something that accepted Penryn out of necessity, and because it was familiar with Penryn already. It also managed to show Penryn via flashbacks some of Raffe’s point of view, which gave us another dimension of the character and only made me like him more. It’s very clear that, to Raffe, Penryn is different than other humans—she’s feisty and fights, even when there’s no chance that she’ll survive. When Penryn and Raffe are finally reunited, there’s a tenderness re-forged between them that we only got a glimpse of in the last book. I’m so glad that Susan Ee expanded on their relationship with this one.

I never knew what to expect next with the plot. Angelfall was a fast read, yet anything but predictable, which I enjoyed greatly, although my emotions were definitely frazzled! And that ending! Gah! Now I have to wait until the next book—which doesn’t even have a title yet, I might add—comes out? How will I survive? Angelfall was enjoyable and a much better sequel than I could have hoped for. I’d even say it’s better than the first book, if that were possible, merely because I finally see what Susan Ee is getting at with her characters and plot. I eagerly look forward to the third book in the series and hope that it lives up to its predecessors.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't want it to end. This series is really sucking me in. The fast-paced and danger-filled storyline keeps me on the edge of my seat as I devour every word. I would have liked to have Raffe in the book more, but since Penryn is the narrator, we only get to see him when she sees him. I am very curious to see what happens next. I really liked the ending of this one and can't wait for the next one. The characters continue to keep me entertained and wanting more. Penr ...more
