While Steampunk is not my favorite genre (automatons don't interest me in the slightest), I did enjoy this book. I liked the characters, a group of young people of varying classes brought together by their common strangeness. Finley--the somewhat Jekyll/Hyde character, struggling to find peace and control over her two sides. Griffin--the young duke learning to control the Aether and discover the truth behind his parents' death. Emily--the sassy red head with an uncanny understanding of machines.

When Kady Cross described The Girl in the Steel Corset as a cross between League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and X-Men , I thought that she was being overly ambitious. I mean, those are two of my favorite movies, and who was she to compare her books to them? But man, oh man, Ms. Cross hit the nail on the head with this one! The result is a book that an exciting, alluring, and dangerously addicting adventure from start to finish.

Living in an alternate 1897 London, Finley Jayne doesn't act like a normal Victorian lady. When the son of her employer attacks her, she fights back and knocks him out cold. Finley is found by a mysterious group led by 18-year-old Griffin King, the Duke of Greythorne. Griffin wants to help Finley control her dark side. This is a really good steampunk story. I was immediately drawn into the plot and characters' lives. I wanted to jump into the book and shake the characters for being stupid at tim

An excellent steampunk novel with flawed heroes and heroines and a rogue with a mercenary but good(ish) heart. Set in Victorian England, this is an interesting world where machines, powered by a unique discovery, do much of the work. I like that the females aren't just waiting around to be rescued by the men. I hope for more!

Can I just say, steampunk is awesome. Especially when you have girls like Finley who could throw you out a window then stomp on your face. Pure amazing.
