Can I just start with the fact that there will be many spoilers in this review because I want to comment on everything in this book? It was FANTASTIC. I forgot how much I loved Tahereh Mafi's unique style of narration, (it's practically poetry), and her characters. I loved Ignite Me, it was absolutely brilliant and so enjoyable. I'm having difficulty expressing my exact adoration for this book. So let me tell you all a story.

It was FANTASTIC. I forgot how much I loved Tahereh Mafi's unique style of narration, (it's practically poetry), and her characters. I loved Ignite Me, it was absolutely brilliant and so enjoyable. I'm having difficulty expressing my exact adoration for this book. So let me tell you all a story.

Once upon a time there was a voracious reader searching for her next book to devour. She remembered that the conclusion to Tahereh Mafi's series had just been released so she went searching for it and found it. And then she opened it and read it from start to finish without a break. The End.

But not really. There was so much that happened in this. It seemed so abrupt, but then I realized I had just read it at the speed of 400mph. Juliette finally does the thing we all want her to do. She stops the whining. She stops the crying and the coddling. She stops the nonsense, and takes control. And it was the best thing to ever happen. And it's even better that she doesn't start out strong like so many leading ladies. She starts broken and suffers and goes through periods of hopelessness. Just like real people. And then she starts to put her pieces together.

And she has help of course. Kenji. James (who was literally adorable). Sonya and Sara. Winston. Castle. All of the people that help her with her fight. She needs them and they need her. (Can I just interject to say that Kenji is literally the greatest best-friend ever, I want one). They help her to start to understand her powers. And they are her friends. The amount of people that I began to care for as the series progressed was astounding.

So most of this nonsensical review was spoilers and fangirling, but still. Tahereh Mafi is a genius. Her style of writing is extraordinary. She wrote lines and lines of beautiful prose. It was full of images and emotion. She never left off the original story, she completed her plot, but she ended with a satisfying bang and I am so full of joy after the way it ended. But also depression, because I can't believe it ended. Just go read her books. They are unbelievable. ...more

Shelves: teens, 2014-a-z-series

I think this was a good conclusion to the trilogy. She says she's done, but there is lots left open to explore, if she so chooses. I hope she does. There were a few let downs, but over all I really enjoyed it. I really loved getting to know Warner better. I have always loved his character, and this book is full of him. I really loved the transformation Juliette underwent. Finally, she quit whining and learned to use and control her power. She was awesome. I really enjoyed watching her come into ...more

when I hear things like "heart-stopping conclusion" and "thrilling saga" I just feel like I read a different Trilogy than everyone else. This was awful. It was marketed as ya dystopian but it's really a whiny middle grade level romantic soap opera of crap. ...more
