I received "Ready Player Two" for Christmas 2020, and it's taken me a few months to read. Part of that is due, of course, to the realities of living in a pandemic, when work and chores and responsibilities and play and social time and leisure have all lost any sense of physical separation and so they all blend into each other and are all diminished as a result. Ready Player One was such a surprise - mainly that I loved it as much as I did since I don’t play video games. The humanity overshadowed the gaming. Switch that in this one. I loved the clever references to my 80s childhood, I think every single 1984 touchpoint is included, but there is sooo much video game discussion that I didn’t even try to follow it all. All the characters are back and the energy is high. I enjoyed this one too.

I really wanted to like this, but no. Ready Player One was great. This one had too many things going on and I wasn't able to enjoy it.
