Okay, this went in totally different directions than I was expecting, but there were plenty of clues along the way that something was not right. The apparent shooting death of Harry Dresden at the end of book 12 leads to a story in which the ghost of Harry Dresden is the main character...only...something just isn't right, on so many levels, that it's a matter of seeing if you can figure out the twists before each one is revealed.

Harry was dead to begin with.
He was shot at the end of the previous book, and fell off his boat into the ocean. This is usually fatal, and Harry spends the book as a ghost.
He is sent back from the afterlife to investigate his own murder, which he has to do without access to a physical body or the magic he's used to slinging at any problem he comes across. He needs allies, and he needs to make contact, somehow, with his friends, partners, and student.
