Bookdrum.com has a good review of this book with a glossary, a bookmarks section which talks about many of the references in the book which readers might not know about now since the book was written 80 years ago. It also has a reference section that describes the area of Sussex, England that most of the book takes place in. It also describes the fashions of the era and has a section about the time frame of the book which is set in the "near future".

Cold Comfort Farm is purported to be a parody of the rather somber rural works of Thomas Hardy and his contemporaries. I can't comment on that, not having read widely in the genre. However, I do know that this book was utterly delightful, charming, and full of dry British wit.
