Another reread, October 2021: Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Re-read, May 2018: What a great, great book. It reminds me just how lovely it can be to read really masterful storytelling with rich language...nothing nowadays can touch it. Do I like North & South even better than Pride & Prejudice? After at least my third re-read, I think I do.

I have watched the BBC version of North and South twice. That's why I couldn't wait to start reading this book as soon as I can.

And I enjoyed the book so much. I am looking forward to re-watch/read it again.

I totally agree with Fiona's review.

I had to read this for 2 reasons.

1. I had multiple friends that rated it 5 stars and

2. Richard Armitage is in the TV adaptation as Mr. Thornton. So I had to find out if I should watch it or not.

Which I will. Mr. Thornton was the best bit of this book, the reason I'm adding a star and not rating it 3 stars. He just loves her so devotedly. <3
