What Members Thought
I enjoyed this book at the time, but would not necessarily recommend it. This old-school adventure novel featuring the ur-Indiana Jones is very much of its time. That means 1. you'll have to take your rip-roaring adventure with a heaping side of racism and 2. you'll be expected to cheer on the protagonists as they murder elephants.

This book was horribly disturbing. There was little to redeem it in terms of plot line or character development. Mostly, it is a tale of slaughter and wildlife debasement. Perhaps, people in its day found the read worthwhile... I simply could not tolerate reading it. I have closed the book and am moving on.
