I liked this better than the first, which was confusing for me with two mysteries. This also answered a lot of the questions I had after reading the first. I think that Lisbeth is developed as a fuller character. Mikael takes a bit of a back seat, but I found Lisbeth to be the more intriguing character anyway.

One of the things I liked about "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is that despite it's detachment from reality, it was completely believable. Larsson did a good job making me think that Salander could do all those things. This book, though, I felt wasn't quite as strong. Don't get me wrong, I'll still read the third one-- after the crazy cliff hanger ending how could I not? But, I'm not sure it needed to be as long as it is. As with the first installment, I really enjoyed this and found it to be a fast read. This book continues the story of the characters in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Mikael's magazine is about to break a story about a huge sex trafficking ring. Meanwhile, Lisbeth disappears and is subsequently accused of murdering three people. Mikael goes on the case to prove Lisbeth's innocence.

Fucking weird-ass book. In two more years, I'll probably find myself reading the third one.

So I've been reading (actually, listening to the audio) this book for the past three years. I can't seem to get into it. now that I only have 2 1/2 hours left, I feel like I should power through to the end.

Not as good as the first, but still compelling. Now I can't wait to read the 3rd.
