TL/DR: Jay Anson puts the PULP in pulp fiction - a literary achievement of paper that would hard pressed to line a birdcage. I frickin’ love the delirious idiocy of The Amityville Horror...let me count the ways in my review.

1. When Anson wants to scare or surprise you, he greatly favors Exclamation Points!

I don't think I've ever read this book before, but I saw the movie as a teenager and have been vaguely freaked out about it for years. The scene where he turns back to the house and (view spoiler)? If I'm leaving my house when it's dark out, I still don't look back.

I liked this a lot. It’s a short read and very different from the movie. However, parts did make me sit straight up and gave me pause. I’m glad I read it.
