I quite enjoyed this. Van Helsing started to get annoying towards the end of the book, but overall this was a good read with decent characters. It was more explicit than I expected (a good thing), but the ending wasn't as thrilling/suspensful as I think it was meant to be (at least for me). I feel like a "race against time" scenario is harder to do in print than it is on screen.

Some of the annotation was truly overdone for a first-time reader of "Dracula." I should have gone for an edition with lighter notes that did not include such frequent date/moon phase/bus schedule corrections. That said, a lot of the notes where insightful and enhanced my experience, but it was a long slog since the book is too large to conveniently transport for waiting room and public transportation reading.
