It was just an ok novel. Felt like Tom Robbins but where I didn't get half the jokes. The first half of the book was just like "look how crazy the devil is" and then the second half is about the Master and Margarita who I didn't understand why I should care about them.

This translation is a bit stilted, at times, although that may suggest that it tracks closer to the original Russian. I found the translation by Diana Burgin and Katherine Tiernan O'Connor more fluid.
