Interesting method of writing about the same story from the perspectives of several people. Great story. Cool to know the author was a contributor to Charles Dickens' journal, All Year Round, and that the "Woman in White' brand was used to sell everything from bonnets and perfumes to sheet music.

I'm late to update this - I finished it months ago. I'll just say that it was the perfect book at the right time. It was dark and twisty and gothic yet also full of heroes, and has THE BEST INVALID of any novel I've read. I read it during my maternity leave with my perfect newborn who slept 22 hours a day (or so it seemed) during an extremely cold winter when I hardly wanted to leave the house. Hands down one of my best reading experiences.
