I was originally planning on giving the book 4 stars, but the ending left me rolling my eyes.
Grahame-Smith does a great job mimicking a biographical writing style. Only he infuses it with vampires and gore.
The novel finds clever ways to introduce vampires into Lincoln's life as well as the Civil War and the freedom of the slaves. Grahame-Smith also rationalizes many well-known facts (Lincoln's dislike of his father; the illnesses of the time) with the idea that vampires were to blame.

Written as a biography, with new "facts" taken from Lincoln's secret diaries, this was a quick, fun read that definitely requires you to suspend belief. I found that I actually learned a few facts about the real Lincoln (which I verified using my own research while I was reading). If you're looking for a great work of literature, this is definitely not it, as sometimes the writing leaves something to be desired. I haven't seen the movie, and this book actually makes me not want to see it.
