Thought-provoking book about the Congo and a teenage girl's bond with a bonobo.
Schrefer has done excellent research about the region and about the bonobo species. His text brings the Congo to life (both in the physical beauty of the region and a terrifying coup). I enjoyed this quite a bit, but it's definitely a book which only has a plot because the protagonist keeps making TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE decisions.
