I really liked this book but I wish that I had read it before I saw the movie. I watched the movie several years ago so it wasn't fresh in my mind but I really liked the movie so I remembered a lot of it. I couldn't help but to see Kiera Knightley playing Cecilia in my mind's eye.

I loved this book. Like LOVED it. I read it while we were in Europe and left it at a book exchange in Prague. I kept checking back, but no one picked it up while we were there! Come on! To be fair, I had already seen the movie, and I'm actually glad I had because, seriously, I don't know if I could have handled the ending if I hadn't known it was going to happen the whole time I was reading. So hard to read when you've seen the movie and know what kind of devastation is coming. Also, there's so little actual action that every moment is super fraught, so reading this was an unexpectedly stressful experience. Not good boat reading. That said, I cried three times and it was beautiful.
