This is a meta-memoir that explores mothers, therapy, and psychoanalysis. Bechdel uses the experiences of Virginia Woolf and psychoanalyst to provide parallels and explanations of her own relationship to her mother. Ultimately this makes for a structurally sound and interesting book. Unfortunately , it ultimately flinches when the subject turns to her mother. Couldn't put this down. Now I have to read it again to dig back into all the Virginia Woolf, psychoanalysis theory, and how they relate to Bechdel's personal story.
