What Members Thought

I dunno. This was my own fault for having the wrong expectations, but the whole traveling past crazy monsters in the Mediterranean is just a couple-chapter flashback in between Telemachus lamenting his fate and Odysseus plotting murder and lying to his family and friends. Impressively readable translation, though.

I read this in preparation for Ulysses, which I never finished. I thought I was re-reading The Odyssey but it turns out I had never read it. So I'm glad I did. It was sort of an effort, but you know how these kinds of books are. The basic story is still one of the best stories ever told and I understand a lot of references better now.
