I picked up Whitehead's first book (The Intuitionist) when it came out about a decade ago, mainly because I thought the author's name was interesting. Little did I know I'd stumbled across one of the best debut novels I've ever read. Next was the flawed but enjoyable John Henry Days, followed by the relatively light but still enjoyable Apex Hides the Hurt.
