Grateful to have found Ayad Akhtar, now I want to read everything he's written. This one is an elegantly written, smoothly unfolding coming-of-age story. It's packed with invaluble social commentary and insight, but it's all natural and implicit, simply told through the eyes of the vivid and thoroughly relatable characters. I do wish the book-end narrative had gotten more attention -- maybe a sequel?
