Love Gaiman's silky-smooth writing style, love the characters, love the sly homage to the Jungle Book...
But, the sort of hybrid of plot-driven and episodic structures made it easy to find a stopping point and pick up something else, and then I had to get into it again. A fun, fast read. Gaiman's take on the world of ghosts, ghouls, vampires, werewolves, etc., with a young orphaned boy growing up on the border between the living and the dead. It's hard for me to not compare this to Harry Potter given the plot parallels, but this book is not nearly as fully developed that series. Fun kids' book about a boy who grows up in a graveyard, after being adopted by ghosts. Hijinx ensue. The scary parts were totally scary, because I'm a wuss.

The first time I read this book, I couldn't put it down. Just over two hours.
The next day, I read it again. Yes, it really is that good. ...more
