I was already on board with this novel when I knew it was an exploration of music nostalgia and What-Could-Have-Been with certain albums by giants, from Jim Morrison, Brian Wilson, or Jimi Hendrix.

Let's skip big events in the whole time-travel setup and move right into ART. Culture. The meaning of what particular pieces could mean for us all. How music still has the power to change the world.

I read this book shortly after it came out and have reread it at least five times. If you love 60's rock and fantasy you can't go wrong here. Ray Shackleford is an every day (90's) type of guy who repairs stereo equipment for a living and dreams of the what ifs of the late 60's legendary rock performers lives. What if the Beatles had made that last great record. What if Brian Wilson had conquered his drug problems. As Ray dreams he is somehow able to pull non existant music into being. This gift ...more
