4.5 stars. Graham Greene did an excellent character study of Scobie and his motivations and his understanding of his Catholic faith. However, I think he either can't characterize women well or he really has a poor opinion of them. I know that Scobie is motivated by his pity for Helen and Louise but (view spoiler) ...more
