I liked it. The author is very talented and the premise was pretty original.
BUT...
The first chapter was horrendous to get through. As a mother (and I was pregnant with baby #2 when I read this...BAAAAAAAD choice!) I do not like reading about abuse of children. Also, it was hard to suspend my disbelief. Things wrapped up just a little too conveniently.

The premise behind the book is a very promising one. The first chapter or two draws the reader in with the promise of a fantastic story, even if the writing is a little less sophisticated than expected.
However, that promise soon gives way to the bitter reality of disappointment. The story ends up being surprisingly one- dimensional considering the almost omniscient presence of our narrator.
