This book makes me want to move to Washington DC and enroll in Madeleine Albright’s class at Georgetown. The book is informative, interesting, and a bit scary. It is not at all like reading a textbook or doctoral thesis. It should be required reading in all high school government classes.

Shelves: politics

Overall an illuminating run down on the past and current fascist regimes. I was torn about wanting more details about 1930-40s Germany and Italy or could have provided a more brief review. Of course it's valuable to hear from a woman who has seen so much of this history in person. I most appreciate Secretary Albright's outlook of being an "optimist who worries a lot.” We also need to be aware of the systematic chipping away at our freedoms and liberties. ...more
