Novelists, especially good ones, have a way of teasing readers into rethinking truths, even if the stories are wisecracking, downright fabrications, and question accepted Beliefs. The great thing about fiction is freedom, to do whatever one wishes, but a good writer can make the invented throw light upon the real. I loved this book. Who cares if most of it is invented, and even blasphemous to many. I prefer to think that God and Jesus have senses of humor. Why else would they save us? That what ...more

OK. ANYTHING that Christopher Moore writes is going to be VASTLY entertaining. He is hysterical. This is my favorite book by him, i nearly laughed up a lung.
but he never fails to please.
READ ALL OF HIS BOOKS, I insist upon it.
of course, i can't really hold you to that, so don't worry.
I promise. Take an average joe, alter his mind with some crazy hallucinogen, and tell him to tell a story. That's Christopher Moore. I love him. I would marry him if 1. i weren't already married; AND 2. if i knew h

It's been awhile since I've read this book, but I just bought the new leather bound copy so it's in my to be reread pile.
I think Mr. Moore did an excellent job with this book. So many people speak of expected offenses. Honestly though, in my opinion, I feel that Mr. Moore showed nothing but respect for the character of Josh. For those that were offended because they say that their Jesus would never do such things, well, my question to you is: "How do you know?".

Perhaps the funniest, most irreverent telling of the missing years of Jesus. Answers that age old question, "Did Jesus know kung fu?" and poses another timeless query you might benefit from asking yourself every day, "What would Biff do?"

Moore is brilliant, and everyone should read this book!!!

So so funny!!! I enjoyed every word of this book. Smart, funny, witty writing. For a person that was never around religion, I found it very entertaining as a story of growing up, where someone with more faith, maybe might find it offensive. I recommend to all!

I absolutely loved this book, not only was the story well written but it made it almost impossible not to laugh out loud when the situation in the book commanded it.
