This memoir is written in a very easy to read and honest manner, detailing Coutts's life in the Northern Territory. I found the descriptions of the '98 flood quite moving, most likely because I had left the Territory (and our property on the Daly River) only two years before. Our property would have been devastated, as many houses, businesses and properties were and Coutts's book brought home our near miss but made me feel for the people of Katherine.
