As usual, Jane Harper's writing was true-blue Aussie and atmospheric. I also read this book while 2019 bushfires were raging throughout Australia, so it was doubly extra atmospheric.

I found the first two thirds of this quite boring, which was surprising as I enjoyed her other books. The domestic violence angle redeemed it somewhat and in the last hundred pages the momentum picked up nicely.
