Jane Harper's third novel and even though there is a clever link to her bestseller The Dry this really is a stand alone. Largely a tale of family interaction her amazing strength as a writer is how she depicts the Australian landscape in all its desolation and harshness so much so that it becomes an integral character in her story. The Bright family’s quiet life is turned upside down as they try to figure out why Cameron was out at the stockman’s grave, and so far from his car. The writing is so descriptive and powerful, you can feel the unrelenting heat of the Queensland outback and the isol
