What Members Thought
When I was in primary school Colin Thiele came to our school and gave a talk. I remember bits of that talk, the humour and how this man inspired me to want to write. I read this boo based on that school visit and it is a wonderful book. It is not what you expect and that makes it so special.
My family saw this at the drive-in movies when I was young. All I really remember was that I cried my eyes out. It was so sad. When I saw the audiobook at my local library, I decided to take a visit down memory lane.
The story is set in Australia and has a lot of local colloquialisms or slang. I think it's brilliant, authentic, and I hope people from other countries learn something about Australia when reading (or listening) to this book.

This book was exactly what I had expected. Heart warming, simple, and poignant, it was about innocence, friendship, nature and how humans could be cruel and the world wasn’t fair.
Great classic.
