Every page of this book was mesmerizing and fun, omg! It really was the most enjoyable comic I've seen in a long time.

Some of the things included:

-Cute Talking Animal Assassins!

-Irish Lion Criminals who sometimes decide to go shopping for rare Aimee Mann records in the middle of dangerous missions!

-Snarky Felix the Cat alarm clock robot assistant!

-Tic-Toc the Clockwork Army robot from Return to Oz!

-References to Scooby Doo and probably lots of other classic adventurer/sleuth franchises!

-Fuckword

A serious story set in a very silly world. It's fun, but incongruous, in a way that can be jarring. It is hard to suspend disbelief and be immersed when (view spoiler) ...more

Most readers are going to have many graphic novel comparisons of the world-building to other critically claim graphic novel hits. What makes Shutter even more undefined is how rushed and almost uncompleted it feels. On the other hand, there are equally appealing aspects that causes me to waver and I'm hoping to battle through my "I'm not sure feelings" and look towards future volumes in hoping the narrative arc and other similarities can break it from it's cast iron clone mold (I can at least

Shutter Volume 1: Wanderlust, written by Joe Keating with illustrations done by Leila del Duca is an urban fantasy comic following former adventurer Kate Kristopher as she discovers a family secret that threatens her life.

The first half of this volume was boring and confusing and not even the oddly fantastical world of talking robot cats, gorilla doctors and gangster lions could save it until Kate gets to her childhood home and thinks suddenly start to get fast paced and fun.

I received a free digital copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I had read the first 4 issues when they first came out and I was so confused and lost that I gave up. But when I got the digital copy for the first volume that put the first 6 together, I thought I would try it again, in hopes that I had missed something. Unfortunately, I don't think I will continue reading after this.

The story is all over the place. So many characters are introduced all at once before we even have a

There's complex and nuanced and then there's needlessly complicated and insane, this book unfortunately falls into the later category. The plot is a mess of unexplained events and half-revealed truths that never actually find where they fit in as a whole. It's like watching random scenes of a tv series and missing all the major elements.
What I will admit is that the art is eye catching in it's craziness and the sketchy quality fits perfectly with the story. It just doesn't make the mess of a pl
