I listened to this as an audiobook. Full disclosure, audiobooks are tough for me. I don't particularly like being read to, but I commute about an hour a day, so it's a good way for me to squeeze in some more books into my day. I thought this might be a particularly easy book for me to listen to. The other Philip K. Dick books that I've read have been heavy on the satire, and sometimes that works better for me when I listen to it, rather than read it. Also, it's a pretty short book, so I thought

This was a reread, inspired by the amazon series. I hate to say it, but the show is better. The view of the American Reich greatly improved the story.
But this is a good book, though a painful one. I grew up with people who talked the way that Joe did, and who saw Asians as that shopkeeper guy did. The slaves really made me uncomfortable. It took a lot of nerve to publish this, I imagine.
