I'm torn between calling this 1 star or 2. Millions of other people clearly love this series, but my inner workings don't seem wired to the right frequency for it.
Most of the stories were so-so (although even the editor notes some development issues and the writer himself acknowledges some missteps in his afterword, so I feel a little better about my opinion), but some of the turns of phrase were nice.

I read this book decades ago. It was my introduction to the graphic novel, and it pulled me in so hard. Unlike the Overture, this book stands up to changing times and my own aging. It's an excellent read, and the art is effective and apt.
