I am a Joe Hill fan from way back. I have loved all of his novels and still look forward to a new Locke and Key. This is something else. NOS4A2 is an epic on a much larger scale. Despite it's gargantuan size, I never felt the story dragged or slowed down. I managed to polish it off in about three days, and what a ride it was. Vic is a hero of the everyman and Manx is a truly scary villain. What really blew my mind in this book were how strong the secondary characters were. I loved Lou and have a ...more

What a great book! Joe Hill, for those of you who do not know, is the son of Stephen King. He has definitely proven himself a master story-weaver in his own right with this novel. The characters are richly developed, the story lines are woven together masterfully, and the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. I would definitely recommend this book to others! A gripping page-turner; I fell in love with the protagonist. A bit repetitive, and the guns were all lined up on the mantelpiece for use a bit too neatly, but I'll always be a sucker for stories that include Iowa librarians. ...more
