This book stands up to multiple readings, and I'm not sure why I don't have a review of it, but stay tuned. This is my fifth read. I re-read the trilogy to prepare for a discussion on SFF Audio, which actually answered a lot of the questions I've had in the five reads of this book.

Margaret Atwood might be my favourite speculative fiction author. This is a future I could really see and believe in.

Complete! yay. For some time now I have been wanting to read a novel by Margaret Atwood, but I am unsure if this was really where I should have started. I enjoyed the world building but I found this book to be more of a prequel than a real first book in a series. So slow to start, you might actually get into this story by the end. The world, for all intents and purposes, has ended and Snowman narrates his way through time after the end. Eventually you start to get an idea of who and what Oryx and Crake are and the defining moments of those relationships. Always an interesting visionary of the future, Atwood creates a biologically advanced society with designer genetic creations. This book starts the trilogy, warning ahead - deep thought required?
